Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Early Detection Saves Lives

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, encourage screening and stand with everyone affected by breast cancer. At Christian Care, we believe healthy communities are resilient communities, and that starts with knowledge and early action.
Breast cancer can affect women and men, and finding it early greatly improves the chances of successful treatment. We encourage everyone to:
• Know your body and check your breasts regularly for any changes
• See a health worker promptly if you notice a lump, swelling, skin changes, nipple discharge or persistent pain
• Go for regular screening at your nearest clinic or hospital
• Share what you know with your mother, sister, daughter, friend, colleague and neighbour
Fear and silence cost lives, but information and early detection save them. We stand in solidarity with survivors, those currently in treatment, families and caregivers, and we remember those we have lost.
Visit your nearest health facility this month and encourage someone you love to do the same.
